SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – While the ongoing coronavirus pandemic caused a sudden and severe unemployment spike nationwide, Sheboygan County has quickly bounced back and now has a shortage of workers to fill available jobs. That, according to the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, which quoted local area unemployment statistics from the Job Center of Wisconsin.
Even though the current 6.2% rate is more than double that of this time last year, job openings in the county outpace the number of unemployed workers by 109 as of last week.
In order to help fill that gap, the Job Center of Wisconsin will host a drive-thru job fair on Thursday, September 17th. Those looking for a job will be handed a bag of information containing flyers from registered employers, along with other helpful info from the Job Center.
Employers can still sign up to participate by contacting the Job Center on Wilgus Avenue.
