MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – Orlando Arcia singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 in Milwaukee on Monday night. Keston Hiura hit a solo homer and Eric Sogard and Ben Gamel had run-scoring hits for Milwaukee.
Devin Williams earned the win in relief and Josh Hader notched his eighth save.
Erik Gonzalez hit a two-run homer for the Pirates in the third to tie the game. Adam Frazier and Jose Osuna added run-scoring singles for Pittsburgh. Nik Turley was tagged with the loss in relief.
The Brewers improved to 16-18 and will host the Detroit Tigers for two games starting Tuesday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL gets underway at 6:05.
Meanwhile, the Brewers traded veteran pitcher David Phelps ahead of Monday’s deadline. Milwaukee dealt him to the Phillies for three minor-league pitchers to be named later. Phelps was 2-3 with a 2.77 ERA in 12 appearances for the Brewers this season.
