SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Just over 11% of the total of 759 cases of COVID-19 so far in Sheboygan County have been recorded this week alone with the addition of another 21 positive test returns in the last 24-hours. 2 of the 136 currently active cases require hospitalization for treatment of symptoms, and 414 persons received the good news of negative test results since Thursday. 31 more persons have been added to the recovery count.
The Sheboygan County Safe Restart Benchmark Criteria of cases, activity level, testing, care, availability of personal protective equipment and tracing of cases have been considered by the Sheboygan County Division of Health Services and, based on the results, the county remains in Phase Two of the restart program, as it has been since June 5th. The only benchmark “in the green” is the ability of hospitals to care for those affected. Testing and PPE Availabilities are listed as “Proceed with Caution”, while the Case Trajectory, Activity Level and Tracing progress all are “in the red.”
Statistics from the State Department of Health Services show another 989 persons added to the “positive” category of tests out of 14,086 returns, indicating an uptick to the positive rate of 7%, and a 7-day average of 5.9%. 12 more persons have succumbed to COVID-19, raising the state death toll to 990. Another 49 persons entered hospital treatment for their symptoms, and are among the 296 total patients, 101 of which are in the ICU. 354 persons are receiving breathing assistance via mechanical ventilation.
