SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – Sunday was the second consecutive day in which a new case of COVID-19 virus in Sheboygan County was added to the list of occurrences during the ongoing global pandemic.
On Sunday the total number of cases increased to 9; five of them currently active, in home confinement and under close observation of the County Department of Public Health. The four remaining have since recovered. 115 persons tested have so far come up negative for the coronavirus. Tests are only being done upon the order of a physician.
The Department of Public Health advises that if you feel ill, have a fever and/or acute respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath & fever, you should self-quarantine for 14 days after illness onset, and 72 hours without symptoms. Seek care if those symptoms become severe, and call your health provider in advance when possible. Individuals with symptoms who aren’t able to be tested should isolate themselves from household and intimate contacts as much as possible.
——-IT COULD TAKE WEEKS——
Sunday’s daily release suggested that, assuming everyone is implementing the rules issued under Governor Evers’ “Safer at Home” emergency order, it will likely be several weeks before we are able to start to see results – the delay due to the lag time between the succession of infection, to symptom onset and finally testing result.
The message went on to say: “the numbers you’re seeing today and in the near term are people who were infected before we started Safer at Home. So, please don’t get discouraged; we need to remain vigilant and continue to do everything we can together to stop the spread of COVID-19. Keeping our health care system from becoming overwhelmed so it can care for us during this epidemic is our number one priority.”
