SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Most of us have the bases covered planning for our families’ safety during the Coronavirus Pandemic, but the Humane Society of Sheboygan County is reminding pet owners that pets deserve extra attention, too, and plans should be in place for their care in case illness strikes.
The CDC says Coronavirus is a human-to-human disease and there have been no reports of dogs, cats or livestock becoming ill or spreading the disease, but if a pet’s owner gets sick and can’t care for a pet, a plan can make sure they’re OK. They recommend putting together a kit that includes vital documents, food and medication, various supplies and detailed instructions of daily care so your pet is properly cared for during your recovery. Consider listing routines like feeding and sleeping times, what makes them anxious, medications and instructions and how often they need to go out. Vaccinations, registration, microchip info and veterinary contact information should also be included so your pet’s care is covered.
