MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – Zach Davies gave up two homers and four runs in four innings as the Brewers lost 5-2 to the Arizona D’backs at Miller Park on Sunday.
Christian Walker led the way for Arizona, as he clubbed a two-run homer in the first inning. Eduardo Escobar added a solo shot for Arizona, which avoided a three-game sweep. Robbie Ray fired five shutout innings to earn the win in his return from the injured list. Archie Bradley got the final four outs for his seventh save.
Manny Pina homered in the seventh and Ryan Braun plated the other run in the eighth on a sac-fly for the Crew, who had won their previous three. Zach Davies fell to 8-7.
The Brewers try to get back on track Monday night at home against the Cardinals. Gio Gonzalez opposes Adam Wainwright in the first of the three-game set. Milwaukee is two games out of a wild card spot and four-and-a-half behind St. Louis in the division.
