Wildwood Park was bumping Wednesday night. And the ruckus crowd was treated to a dandy of a baseball game.
Tied 3-3 entering the bottom of the eighth and with the bases loaded after an intentional walk, Travis Slywka took the first pitch he saw and drove it into right center field, scoring Jake Arens and Chris Saltzman to help push the A's past the De Pere Dodgers 7-3.
With the win, the A's get back over .500 in Wisconsin State League play at 7-6.
Eric Schmitz was locked in a pitchers dual with Dodgers lefty Sam Forkert. Schmitz pitched 7.1 innings, striking out 11 and walking three with only two earned runs against. Forkert sat down 10 A's batters in his seven innings, but walked six.
After falling behind 1-0, Bryce Brogni laced a shot to left-center in the third inning that cleared the fence, giving the A's a 2-1 lead with his second home run of the season. That home run, and Slywka's go-ahead single were the only two hits the A's would get on the night, but they made them count.
TD Walker reached base three times, all via walk to lead the A's.
