One man is safe following a dramatic rescue on Lake Michigan yesterday.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call early Sunday morning about an unmanned vessel, and a man in the water, about 2 miles east of Weeden Creek Road in the Town of Wilson. The caller explained that they had thrown a life ring to the man, but they were unable to lift him into their boat. The US Coast Guard and Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, along with rescue swimmers from the Sheboygan Fire Department.
The team rescued the male victim, and US Coast Guard crews managed to locate and board the man’s vessel – which was still under power – and brought it back to shore. The male victim was not injured, and the incident was deemed to be accidental in nature.
