Fond du Lac County has seen more than its share of high-speed chases, but a pursuit of another kind took place on Sunday morning.
It was 3:52 AM when a Sheriff’s Deputy observed a vehicle on southbound I-41 traveling under the 70 MPH limit while weaving between lanes and traveling off the roadway. Lights and sirens were activated but the driver continued some distance before finally pulling over. That was temporary, though, and the pursuit continued at about 40 MPH until leaving the interstate onto Winnebago Street in the Village of North Fond du Lac, ignoring the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp.
The Deputy was able to perform a PIT maneuver, ending the chase and putting the 33-year-old driver from North Fond du Lac into custody. He now faces a felony charge of fleeing/eluding, suspicion of operating while intoxicated along with additional traffic citations.
