Jerome (Jerry) J. Miller, age 93, of Plymouth, peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Sheboygan Senior Community leaving behind a legacy of deep faith, community service, and profound devotion to his family.
Jerry was born on December 14, 1932, in Sheboygan, the son of the late Oscar and Mildred (Kalmerton) Miller. He attended Little Elkhart Lake School and graduated from Elkhart Lake High School. It was during his school days that he met his high school sweetheart, Marlene Mueller. The two were wed on July 17, 1954, at the Elkhart Lake United Church of Christ, beginning a beautiful journey of marriage that spanned over seven decades.
A man of remarkable work ethic, Jerry dedicated his time and talents to several local businesses over the years. He was employed at the IGA store in Elkhart Lake and gave 35 years of dedicated service to Thielmann’s Old Wisconsin Sausage Company. Never one to truly idle, he also worked at Quit Qui Oc Manor for 15 years and Colonial Columns for 21 years.
Jerry and Marlene shared a love for adventure, spending 14 wonderful years residing in Bradenton, Florida, and traveling extensively throughout the United States and Canada, including memorable trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean. Many of these journeys were shared alongside their dear friends, Bob and Carol Grimes. Among his favorite travel memories was a deeply meaningful trip to the historic city and battlefield of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Closer to home, Jerry was an enthusiast of friendly competition. He thoroughly enjoyed playing Sheepshead, Skat, Cribbage, Nickels, and just about any game with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—especially if he won. An avid golfer, Jerry was a proud member of the Crystal Lake Golf Course for 30 years. He played in the Thursday Night Men’s League with his trusted partner, Bob Grimes, where the duo captured many trophies, and also enjoyed spending Friday nights on the course in the Couples League with Marlene.
Jerry’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a dedicated member of a church community wherever he resided, including Ebenezer UCC in Sheboygan, Community UCC in Elkhart Lake, and Salem UCC in Plymouth, actively serving on numerous church committees over the years.
His impact on the local community was profound and wide-reaching. In 1975, Jerry became a member of the Cassia Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM Plymouth. Over his decades of service, he gave selflessly of his time, serving as Worshipful Master, Worthy Patron of Loyalty Chapter #118 O.E.S., Commander of Sheboygan Commandry #132, Thrice Illustrious Master of Sheboygan Council #138, High Priest of Royal Arch Masons Plymouth Chapter, Associate Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters, and Member of the Tripoli Shrine and Blue Spruce.
Jerry was also a loyal member of the Travelers Protective Association and the “99” Club for 61 years. Passionate about youth sports, he was a registered official with the WIAA for 61 years, officiating basketball, baseball, and volleyball games. His heart for service also extended to volunteering with Meals on Wheels for 15 years.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; their three children, Karen (James) Kasten, Kevin (Sandra) Miller, and Kelly (Roger) Mehre; seven grandchildren, Heather Kasten, Jason Kasten, Melissa (Scott) Maurer, Calvin (Brooke) Miller, Jared Mehre, Jenna Mehre, and Jessica Mehre; and five great-grandchildren, Emmalee Meinolf, Terrick Meinolf, Kaitlyn Maurer, Rhys Kasten, and Ashlyn Kasten. He is further survived by his sister, Marilyn Jaschob of Appleton, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Anna and Calvin Mueller; his brother, Lee Miller; his sisters, Susan Packer and Carol Groene; and his brothers-in-law, Marvin Jaschob and Ralph Groene.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 at Salem UCC in Plymouth with Rev. Mike Donahou officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation at the church on Saturday, August 8th, 2026 from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm.
A Masonic service followed by an Eastern Star service will be held just prior to the start of the service. Burial of his cremains will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry’s name may be directed to Salem UCC and the American Diabetes Association.
