Jerome (Jerry) J. McMullen, age 89, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July
22, 2026, with his family by his side at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center. Jerry was born December
29, 1936 in Milwaukee to parents James F. and Isabel (Hand) McMullen. The family ultimately
resided in Sheboygan Falls. On April 26, 1958 he married Mary J. Tellen of Sheboygan at Holy Name
Catholic Church. During their 68 years of marriage, they lived in Plymouth and were members of St John
the Baptist Catholic Church.
Jerry graduated with the class of 1955 from Sheboygan Falls High School and then attended UW River
Falls. He began his career working at Miller Auto Clinic as a mechanic in 1956. He became part owner
in 1968 at that time they changed the business name to Miller Power Equipment. He enjoyed working
on anything with an engine and was well known for building competition go-kart engines. After 37 years
he retired from the business in 2005.
His love of racing spread through 2nd and 3rd generations of his family, with him
being there every lap of the way. He started racing at the Sheboygan County Fair Grounds in 1959 with
a 36 Ford Coup, which he built with his friends Dick Albright, Gary Resimius and Don Rortvedt. Years
later his son Tim raced a Winged Modified and grandson Brandon raced a 360 Sprint car.
In 1965, on a dare from his friends, he competed in and won his first snowmobile race in Crivitz. That
sparked another racing career. He started racing at local tracks and then joined the
United States Snowmobile Association (USSA), allowing him to compete in races across the country and
Canada. This included trips to the World Series of Snowmobile Racing. All his children raced
snowmobiles while growing up, starting the second generation of racing.
Jerry also was involved with racing go-karts at the Karting Kettle and Road America track in Elkhart
Lake along with his grandchildren, the third generation of racers.
He was a longtime member of the EWSCA where he was a driver and car owner. He was a Founding
Father of the Plymouth Snow Rangers where he later served as President and Race Director for their
annual snowmobile races. He also held many positions on the USSA board.
Many of our trips were spent up north at the family cabin in Crivitz. We also enjoyed going to the
A.L.M.S. cabin in Tipler with good family friends. In his retirement, Jerry and Mary traveled to all 50
states, primarily in their motor home where they enjoyed meeting new people along the way.
He is survived by his wife, Mary. Children: Kathy (fiancé Joe Hubacek) Thomas; Chris (David)
Sachse; Patty (Terry) Toraason; and Tim (fiancé Brenda Handel) McMullen; grandchildren Brian (Laura)
Thomas; Sara (Brad) Klein; Ben (Nicole) Adams; Trevor (Emily) Adams; Marcus Adams; Richard (Nicole)
Sachse; Dave (Amanda) Sachse; Briana (Matt) Ansay; Katrina (Matt) Patek; Carsten Toraason;
Brandon (Mia) McMullen; Joe (Jami) McMullen; Derek (Kaitlyn) Handel; Sydney (Austin) Haase. Great
grandchildren: Markus, Mason, Matthew, Walker, Jerry, Kennedy, Emmett, Alex, Jacob, Madeline,
William, Davey, Samantha, Ryan, Collins, Juliet, Roland and Isabelle. He is further survived by his
sister Jean Wolfert; and brothers John (Janet) McMullen; Mike (Kathy) McMullen and Dave (Mary)
McMullen along with many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law James and Josephine
Tellen, brother-in-law Mark Tellen and his wife Rosemary, brother-in-law David Wolfert, son-in-law
Steven G. Adams, and nephew Daniel J. McMullen.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 3:00-
6:00, with a Rosary being prayed at 6:00. On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, it will be at St John the Baptist
Catholic Church, visitation will be 10:00-11:00 with a funeral Mass to follow at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center, Rocky Knoll Health
Care Center for the activity programs or a charity of your choice.
