Forecasters have their hands full, given that Lake Michigan Beaches are getting pounded by 2-4 foot waves, wildfire smoke is threatening health, and the ingredients for a severe weather outbreak are all at hand, all at once. But one-by-one, here’s what’s up.

NWS Graphic
Wildfire smoke is persistent, and will continue to cause unhealthy conditions for many until at least 6 tonight.
Lake Michigan waves impacting beaches from Ozaukee County northward through Manitowoc County and beyond will cause life-threatening surf and currents.

NWS Graphic
Sunshine on central Wisconsin will fuel development of thunderstorms that could generate winds over 70 MPH and hail bigger than golf balls. It’s also possible that an EF2+ tornado could result from storms that move through our area between 8 and 11 PM.

The National Weather Service advises keeping abreast of developments, and to have a way of receiving alerts on-hand, especially after dark.
