The ongoing heat wave has been living up to predictions, and now we’ll have a second reason to stay indoors – wildfire smoke.
A heat advisory remains in effect until 8 tonight in Sheboygan County and all of southern Wisconsin, and an Air Quality Advisory that’s in effect until at least noon on Thursday warns of smoke from Canada and northern Minnesota making the air unhealthy for both sensitive groups as well as the public at large. Air quality was good early this morning but is expected to decline significantly this afternoon, and it might stay long enough to extend the advisory into Thursday evening or beyond.

Meanwhile, that smoke layer will temper the heat slightly, but not until Thursday. And although the heat advisory may be dropped by then, overall hot and humid conditions will linger into the weekend.
