Nick Anvelink of Bonduel claimed his sixth career Sheboygan Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Late Model A-main victory in a Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model main event at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 27. - JW's Car and Raccing Photos
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 27, 2026 – On a night featuring intense, hard-nosed battles and spirited charges to the front of the pack, four drivers stood atop the podium in Plymouth Dirt Track A-main action Saturday, June 27 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.
Nick Anvelink of Bonduel claimed a flag-to-flag win in the caution-free 30-lap Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model Series headliner presented by Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz A main.
Two-time Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth claimed his fourth A-main victory of the 2026 PDTR campaign in the 25-lap main event.
Matt Urban of Milwaukee emerged with his second victory in three outings behind the wheel of Brad Weiss’ 53B car in a wild 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National main event.
Steve Lorier of Sheboygan racked up his first 25-lap Sheboygan Flooring B Mod A-main win of the year.
Polesitter Nick Anvelink jumped out to the lead on the opening lap of the 30-lap Super Six Late Model Series A main and wasted no time building a gap back to second starter Joel Bennett of Hortonville.
Anvelink got a first taste of lapped traffic on lap 6 before encountering slower traffic in earnest on lap 13. The multi-time Dirt Kings Late Model Tour champion slipped through the back of the field expertly to keep Bennett at bay throughout the contest.
On the final lap, Bennett dug deep to cut the gap significantly. However, he was unable to mount a serious challenge. Anvelink held on to secure his first Super Six Late Model Series win of the 2026 season, and sixth overall career PDTR Late Model main event win in the non-stop race.
Bennett was second, fourth starter Taylor Scheffler took third, Brett Swedberg of Shawano placed fourth after starting fifth, and six-time PDTR Late Model champ Brad Mueller of Random Lake charged up from the 11th starting spot to round out the top five.
Outside front row starter Katelyn Krebsbach of Johnsburg seized the lead on the first lap of the 25-lap 360 Sprint Car main event. While Krebsbach commanded the top spot in the early going, third starter Ben Schmidt began his march to the front by sliding past defending PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Kevin Karnitz of West Bend to take third on lap 5.
On lap 11, Schmidt assumed second with a daring three-wide move, during which he split a lapped car and polesitter Tyler Davis of Franklin heading into turn one.
The first of four caution flags flew on lap 13 for the stalled car of Jake Zimmerman of Pewaukee. On the restart, Schmidt pulled off a slider to clear Krebsbach for the lead in turn two.
After three more cautions for single-car spins on laps 16, 18, and 19, Schmidt controlled each restart to pull away to his fourth A-main victory of the 2026 PDTR season, fifth 2026 Midwest Sprint Car Association win, 32nd career PDTR 360 Sprint Car victory, and 57th overall MSA triumph.
T.J. Smith of Greenville moved up from the fifth starting spot to take second, sixth starter Tristan Furseth of Cambridge was third, Karnitz wound up fourth, and Shane Wenninger of Kewaskum advanced six spots from 11th at the start to round out the top five in Bill Taylor’s No. 69 machine.
In the highly eventful 25-lap Grand National main event, 2022 PDTR Grand National champion Luke Scholten of Oostburg grabbed the lead from the fourth starting spot on the opening circuit.
The top four cars of Scholten, 87-year-old polesitter Dick Hed of Plymouth, fourth starter Nick Schumacher of Eagle, and Matt Urban, who started sixth, raced in close side-by-side quarters for four laps before Scholten re-established himself in the lead on lap 10.
On lap 15, Schumacher tracked Scholten down, and one lap later, he used a low move in turn one to gain the top spot.
However, disaster struck when Schumacher and Scholten were involved in a chain reaction crash involving a slower car on lap 24, which resulted in heavy damage to both cars and necessitated a red flag. After being transported to a hospital for burns, Schumacher later described his condition as otherwise okay via social media.
The ensuing restart sparked fireworks when Urban ducked very low under Hed, who had inherited the lead on the restart, with a bold move entering turn one of the final lap. The two made contact, which allowed fifth-starting Derek Kaat of Plymouth to take the lead in turn two briefly.
However, Urban recovered to sweep around Kaat in the final two corners and nail down his second career Grand National A-main victory in dramatic and controversial fashion.
Kaat placed second, Hed wound up third, 2018 PDTR Grand National champion Tyler Kulow of Plymouth moved up from the 11th starting position to take fourth, and 10th starter Will Schumacher of Hartford rounded out the top five.
Following the race, Hed visited victory lane to show his displeasure with the aggressive last-lap maneuver. Meanwhile, Urban was greeted with a wave of disapproval from a vocal collection of spectators as he exited his car to claim the win.
When the dust settled on the tempestuous race, Urban celebrated his second career Grand National A-main victory over the course of the last three races, filling the seat of the 53B car normally steered by Brad Weiss.
After a multi-car incident on the opening lap, outside front row starter Jim Juneau of Brookfield grabbed the lead on lap 2. Juneau retained the top spot before Steve Lorier, who started sixth, charged to move past Juneau with a low move entering turn three on lap 6.
Three laps later, 2024 PDTR B Mod champ Travis Schmidt of Cascade moved up from the 12th starting position to take over second. However, Schmidt was unable to track down Lorier, who was stout up front, weaving his way through lapped traffic over the final 16 laps on the way to his first A-main victory of the 2026 campaign and seventh career PDTR B Mod main event win.
Schmidt placed second, 2017 PDTR B Mod champion Justin Green of Sheboygan Falls finished third after starting 13th, ninth starter Brendan Ostrowski of Milwaukee was fourth, and Matt Urban advanced from the 10th starting spot to finish fifth.
Taylor Scheffler of Waukesha claimed overall fast qualifier honors in the Super Six Late Model Series with a lap of 13.794 seconds.
Billy Kreutz of Kiel was the overall fastest qualifier in the PDTR 360 Sprint Car division with a lap of 12.860 seconds.
The eighth event of the 2026 PDTR campaign, sponsored by Pedal Down Promotions, attracted a field of 82 entries, including 25 360 Sprint Cars, 21 B Mods, 19 Grand Nationals, and 17 Late Models.
The next event on the 2026 calendar at The Plymouth Dirt Track is the Independence 30 on Thursday, July 2, featuring Dirt Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, as well as MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars, Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars, A Modified, and Street Stocks each competing for a top prize of $1,776.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.
After taking the Fourth of July off, PDTR will host the fifth annual Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame Induction Night event on Saturday, July 11, during which five drivers (John Born, Brian Gilles, Terry Marten, Lanny Schirmer, Gib Wiser), four track workers (Dale Baumann, Kim Baumann, Dave Bohrmueller, Brian Triphan), and one racing family (Sippel) will be inducted into the Wall of Fame during intermission.
The Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model Series presented by Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz will be in action, along with the Akright Auto PDTR 360 Sprint Cars, and Oostburg Automotive Dirt Devil Grand Nationals. Sheboygan Flooring B Mods, and Vintage Modifieds.
