Criminal Charges have been filed against a 35-year-old Plymouth man accused of two counts of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault – Intercourse with Person Under 12.
Records filed in Sheboygan County Circuit Court allege that Christopher Rentmeester committed the offenses on two separate occasions, one on February 28, 2022 and the other on January 16 of 2024. If convicted, each charge carries a mandatory penalty of up to 60 years in prison, typically broken into a maximum 40 years confinement followed by 20 years of extended supervision. The charges filed by the State of Wisconsin are in addition to those recently filed against Rentmeester in the US District Court which charge him with Production of Child Pornography. That case will be heard separately. Rentmeester is scheduled to appear in Sheboygan County Circuit Court Branch #4 for a status conference on July 8.
The filing of the most recent charges follows an investigation conducted by the Plymouth Police Department, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, FBI and prosecutors. Plymouth Police officials remind the public that charges are allegations only, and that Rentmeester is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
