The Wisconsin State Patrol is continuing a series of aerial surveillance over Wisconsin highways next week, with Manitowoc County among those being targeted. The operations that involve an airplane overhead observing, and ground units directed from above, are intended to increase public safety, which includes enforcing traffic laws to help make sure drivers reach their destinations safely.
Weather permitting, the upcoming week’s schedule includes I-39 in Portage and Waushara Counties on Tuesday, May 26, I-94 in Jefferson County on Wednesday the 27th, I-43 in Manitowoc County and I-94 in Eau Claire County on Thursday, May 28th, and Wisconsin Highway 57 in Door County on Sunday, May 31st.
The State Patrol said that operations are announced publicly to reinforce the goal to improve safety through voluntary compliance with traffic laws, and aren’t intended to simply stop and cite drivers.
