There’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the Memorial Day holiday in the Sheboygan area, not the least of which is the traditional parade with all the banners, bands and buntings in downtown Sheboygan.
Sheboygan’s celebration on Monday is a collaboration between US Veterans and active-duty personnel, the City of Sheboygan, and Lakeland Student-Run Businesses. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9 AM, progressing northward on 7th from Center to Michigan Avenues, west on Michigan to 9th Street, and south on 9th to Fountain Park. At the parade’s conclusion there will be tributes to veterans and active duty men & women. And like any proper Sheboygan celebration, a Brat Fry follows in Fountain Park with 100% of proceeds going to the Military and Youth Foundation, and to the Marine Corps League.
Plymouth puts on its parade at 10 AM Monday processing down East Mill Street, and the traditional Memorial Day ceremonies follow the parade at its terminus at the Union Cemetery.
The Town of Rhine Memorial Day Picnic is also scheduled between 11 AM and 3 PM on Monday with a Parade at 1 PM. Following the parade a Memorial Day Service will take place followed by a brat fry. Activity will be centered at Rhine Road and County Highway FF in Rhine Center.
