Sheboygan Mayor Ryan Sorenson posted a video on his Facebook Page Tuesday, voicing his opinion on the possibility of a new McDonalds restaurant being built at 1221 Erie Avenue, the old EbCo site.
The Mayor said he planned to vote no on the proposal due to concerns involving the proposed drive through—noting that the site was one of the busiest streets in the city. The mayor stated that the site was also one of the most dangerous concerning traffic and pedestrian accidents—and said it was his belief that a McDonalds would not be the highest and best use of the property.
In the end, the Plan Commission chose to table the request for the conditional use permit, as commissioners had several questions regarding the placement of the new building as well as the impact the increased traffic would have on the already dangerous street.
