Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Dept
It was a busy weekend for Fond du Lac County fire and police—beginning around 9:30, when -. The Oakfield Fire Department was called to Oakfield Middle School for reports of a burning odor inside the school. Officials determined the cause to be from elevated levels of freon coming from a roof-top air conditioning unit. School officials made the decision to release the middle and high school students early, as a precautionary measure.
Next, was a pole shed fire in Calumet—officials say they believe a boat that was stored inside was the cause of that fire, which was contained to the shop and attic areas of the pole shed. And multiple families were evacuated following a fire that spread to other properties in Fond Du Lac on Friday. According to authorities, the fire began in a garage in the 600 block of Illinois Avenue, and spread—eventually damaging 4 garage and 2 homes. 4 dogs were rescued from the burning properties and there were no injuries reported.
