Marion R. Grobman, 92, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026.
She was born June 16, 1933, in Sheboygan, to Harold and Hazel Zabel. She married Jerome “Romy” Grobman on August 4, 1951, at St. Nicholas Hospital, and they shared 70 years of marriage.
Marion graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1951. She and Romy made their home in Sheboygan, where they raised their four children. Marion devoted her life to her family and to serving others. She worked for 30 years as a librarian at Sheridan Elementary School, where she was named the school’s “First Lady” upon retiring at 74, and served as a crossing guard with the Sheboygan Police Department.
Marion was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and catechism. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, sewing, mushroom foraging, family history, and NASCAR. She loved animals, caring for all creatures great and small. Marion had an adventurous spirit, a fierce love for her family, and shared a memorable African safari with her son, Gary. As she often said, “Veni, vidi, vici” – “I came, I saw, I conquered”.
She is survived by two children, Tammie (Grobman) Howard, Port Washington, and Gary (Terry) Grobman, Plymouth; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Reklaitis) Samphier, Natalie Howard, and Kylie (Grobman) Yost; her brother, Donald Zabel, Rice Lake; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Grobman; her parents, Harold and Hazel (Wandron) Zabel; two sons, James “Jim” and Robert “Bobby” Grobman; and two siblings, Richard Zabel and Jeanne (Zabel) Bubb.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Ave, Sheboygan, followed by a 12 p.m. service officiated by Rev. Jim Schulz. Marion will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the excellent care shown to Marion.
