The Sheboygan River reached a crest on Tuesday evening and is retreating for the time being. A Flood Warning remains, though, as the level was still a full foot above the “Action” stage threshold early this morning.
The crest of 9.15 feet was reached around 6 last evening and was retreating faster than expected. About 8-tenths of an inch of rain was recorded at the airport on Tuesday but nearly all of that was before sunrise, and storms mostly missed the area overnight, easing the potential for a more significant overflow.

Minor flooding is affecting low-lying areas near the river, and it was expected that docks on Sheboygan’s riverfront and marina would become covered. The Pigeon River was also experiencing flooding to the degree that the Sheboygan DPW had to close Evergreen Park to all visitors due to the severity of the situation, and the Sheboygan Police Department said it would ask people to leave if found there and consider citing them as well.
