About two weeks is available for those who’d like to sign up and show their support for the Autistic community. The Sheboygan Falls Kiwanis Club and Kiwanis Club of Greater Sheboygan will team up for the 12th Annual Kiwanis 5K Fun Run / Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 25th. The family-friendly event at River Park in Sheboygan Falls is part of National Autism Awareness Month, and will raise funds to provide iPads and specialized communication apps for children on the autism spectrum in Sheboygan County and the surrounding region. A Youth Fun Run kicks off the morning at 8:30, followed by the 5K Run / Walk at 9, and anyone of any age or ability is welcome.
The Chair of the committee behind the event, Dean Perronne, said that “An iPad loaded with the right apps can become a powerful communication tool for a child with autism.” He added that the number of those that Kiwanis is able to distribute continues to increase each year, thanks to events like the Fun Run and Walk that make it possible.
Registration fees are $25 for adults, $10 for those 11-16 years old, and those 10 and under can register for free through this link.
