The Sheboygan Police Department is warning people to avoid being caught in a scam now making the rounds. The SPD says that they’ve received multiple reports of citizens receiving text messages advising to pay fines or else suffer the consequences. Many contain embedded links that can result in theft of personal information and loss of money.
Police say that neither they nor the DOT will ever contact you via text concerning fines. Any questions concerning a legitimate parking ticket can be verified on the SPD’s website.
