Kia Thor, 57, of Sheboygan, passed away at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on March 7, 2026. She was born in Xieng Khouang province, Laos, daughter of the late Sai-Vue Thor and Blia Vang. Her father served alongside the U.S. CIA during the Vietnam War. As the second oldest among four siblings, Kia had two sisters and one brother. In 1989, Kia and her brother immigrated to the United States together. Kia was a devoted mother to her only child, Pheng Xiong. She also had a deep passion for gardening, knitting, and hand sewing beautiful embroidery pieces, traditionally referred to as paj ntaub.
She is survived by her son, Pheng Xiong, eldest sister Marla Thoj and brother-in-law Dan Yang (Nyaj Ntaaj & N. Nyaj Ntaaj Yaaj) of Kansas City, KS, nieces and nephews (KS); Angel Wang, Ada Yang, Long Yang, Chua Her, Kelley Chang, Lynne Yang, Susann Yang, Daly Yang, and Casey Yang. Nieces and nephews (WI); Maya (Mai Y.) Thao, Fong Thao, Toua Thao, Holly Thao, and Melanie Thao. She is further survived by other family and friends. Kia was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tou Thao, and sister Pa Thor.
A funeral service will be held on April 12, 2026, at Olson Funeral Home in Sheboygan, WI, along with burial service at Wildwood Cemetery on April 13, 2026.
