Evening practice drills by the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard are again being heard overhead of east-central Wisconsin communities and are likely to draw attention now through Thursday, daily until around 9:30 PM. The F-35 fighter jets are based at Truax Field in Madison, but their main practice area is over Lake Michigan. That puts Sheboygan and surrounding counties on the flight paths which are designed to minimize the roaring of their engines.
Most practice is done during the day, but nighttime exercises are required to keep air and ground crews ready whenever they’re needed.
