The City of Plymouth is entering the next stage of evaluating its system of public safety and how it’s funded. A report released earlier in March illustrated the basics: Population growth exceeding 30 percent since 1992; a 250 percent increase in Police Department incident reports since 2005 including a tripling in the last five years; and the projection of increasing population and area growth along with the associated needs.
In response, the Plymouth Police Department wants to add five officers and three squad cars with necessary equipment at an annual cost of around $1.065 million. What’s now being sought is public input on how to fund these changes, and to do that a survey will be mailed during the week of April 6th, with returns by April 27.
Each household should receive a physical survey, but residents can also fill and submit theirs online. To complete the survey online, long on to www.Survey2000.com. A unique, one-time-use code will be issued.
Paper surveys can be returned by hand to City Hall, or mailed to:

Final results will be presented at the May City Council meeting, as well as posted on the City’s website.
