A man visiting the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area had to be transported by helicopter after suffering severe injuries in a fall on Sunday.
Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Campbellsport Ambulance, and the Kewaskum Fire Department and First Responders were called to the scene at around 5 PM Sunday. They found an 84-year-old man who had fallen on a trail near the boat ramp and sustained severe facial injuries in the fall. Flight for Life was called due to the degree of his injuries.
The campground entrance was closed for about an hour while a landing zone was prepared and the man was evacuated to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for treatment.
