Concept plans for a new Public Safety Complex and improvements to several facilities have been approved by the Sheboygan Common Council with design development now on the front-burner. It’s a project that’s been underway for the past two years and the project for now is in the hands of the developers.
The new complex is needed, given that current facilities don’t meed modern safety, accessibility and operational standards. Initial reports uncovered significant deficiencies in space, lack of proper decontamination areas, inadequate dorms and other issues. Another part of the plan is to rebuild Fire Stations 2 & 3 and expand the current Police facilities on North 23rd Street.
