MADISON, WI (WLUK) — The record for newly reported cases of COVID-19 continues to rise, according to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Officials are reporting on Saturday 2,817 new cases of COVID-19, breaking the previous record of 2,533 that was set on Friday, September 18.
This is the third straight day of new infections over 2,000.
The record 2,817 positive tests accounts for 22.4% of the day’s test results, which is up from the 16.6% on Friday, September 25.
The seven-day average of new cases has also increased on Saturday, rising from 1,935 on Friday to 2,011.
There are seven new COVID-19 deaths being reported by the DHS as the total is now at 1,281.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 1,507,057 people tested, 113,645 positive cases, and 1,393,412 negative test results.
Health officials consider 94,094 patients to have recovered from the coronavirus, with 18,252 active cases in the state.
Wisconsin hospitals are reporting to the DHS that 543 COVID-19 patients are receiving hospital care, with 147 in the ICU.
The state has a supply of 2,307 ventilators on hand with 376 in use.
