The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office had to call in special teams to end a situation involving a firearm this Tuesday morning. They were called to the 4900 Block of US Highway 45, about 3 miles south of Oshkosh at 8:06 AM with reports of a domestic incident involving a firearm.
Immediate attempts to negotiate a surrender with the suspect were unsuccessful, and so the SWAT team was called to bring the episode to a conclusion. They did – and without injury to either law enforcement or the 19-year-old man taken into custody around 12:30 PM.
He is now jailed on charges of Disorderly Conduct With a Firearm, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Failure to Comply With Officer’s Attempt to Take Person Into Custody, and Resisting Arrest. A bond hearing was scheduled for later Wednesday in Winnebago County Circuit Court.
