A new contract between the City of Sheboygan and Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 998 is likely to be authorized by the Finance and Personnel Committee on Monday.
The contract, submitted in January, calls for an annual across-the-board wage increase of 2.75% each year 2026-2028, setting the base rate for all Class D/E Drivers to be $20.06 before the adjustment, and adding another 0.5% to those rates after each of the following two years’ increases.
Aside from other adjustments, another proposal reflects the increasing influence of artificial intelligence in how employees can be considered for disciplinary action. As written, the contract proposes that “Electronic vehicle tracking/surveillance equipment and data created exclusively by Artificial Intelligence will not be the sole source of disciplinary action.”
