Fire is being eyed as one potential cause of death in Fond du Lac County after a fire was reported at around 10:15 this Wednesday morning on Lakeshore Drive in the Town of Friendship by a nearby resident. Multiple fire departments from the surrounding area converged on the one-story home on the shore of Lake Winnebago near North Fond du Lac, where smoke was seen coming from the attic.
Crews entered the home and located an 81-year-old woman deceased inside a bedroom. The fire itself appears to have started in the basement, and was quickly extinguished by responding firefighters.
Both the cause of the fire and the manner of death are still under investigation, and further information won’t be released until those have been completed.
