Concerns of significant lake effect snow have faded, and the National Weather Service is able to offer a more confident forecast for the next few days.
A band of lake effect snow is expected to move onshore between 4 and 8 AM Friday affecting counties from Sheboygan southward with measurable snow of at least an inch, and extending trace to 1/2 inch amounts as far west as Madison. Maximum accumulations of two inches are most likely along the lakeshore from Belgium on to the south. Given the timing, concern centers around reduced visibility and traction during the morning commute.

NWS Graphic
With winds turning to the northwest early Friday afternoon, any activity should return to Lake Michigan and end the accumulations here. The more northerly trend of the winds should also minimize the chance of additional lake effect snow on Saturday.
Temperatures are expected to moderate into next week when highs in the mid 20s become common, and lows stay in the teens.
