Plans to construct a 110,000 square-foot manufacturing addition to Vollrath Company’s North 18th Street Campus will be examined tonight when Sheboygan’s City Plan Commission meets at 6 PM. The new addition would take up 2-1/2 acres of Vollrath’s existing 44-1/2 acre property with total facades stretching over 8,000 feet.
The applications being reviewed indicate that the new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility as planned represents one of the largest capital investments in Vollrath’s 150-year history.
Back in December the Common Council created a $1.6 million Tax Incremental District to support the project, which will represent an investment of anywhere from $40 to $80 million dollars when completed in phases. The existing facility was built in 1912.
