In the face of a bitterly cold weekend, the community is beginning to take steps to protect against the weather.
First, the Village of Adell has decided to cancel the Christmas parade that was scheduled to be held on Saturday. Wind chills in the minus-20 degree range would pose a threat of frostbite among other problems.
The Sheboygan County Warming Center is requesting donations of warm gloves and other winter wear. Those can be placed in the bin in the back of the building at 6th and Ontario Avenue.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory in effect from midnight until noon on Saturday for temperatures near zero and wind chills colder than 20 below.
