Following a weather system that put down anywhere from 6 inches of snow in western Sheboygan County, to 2-3 inches on the lakeshore, the door has been opened to an incursion of arctic air into Wisconsin. The National Weather Service said that all indications are for well below normal temps across southern Wisconsin this weekend, with single digit high temperatures, and lows around or below zero beginning Friday night through Sunday.
Wind Chills will be a significant factor, ranging from -10 to -30 degrees later Friday night through Sunday night, with the most intense conditions occurring Saturday night into Sunday morning.
For Sheboygan specifically, wind chills should fall below zero by 9 PM Friday, reaching and remaining below -15…and as low as -24 degrees…Saturday through midday Sunday.
Such conditions threaten frostbite to exposed skin and hypothermia to individuals unprepared for outdoor exposure. The NWS is advising that besides dressing appropriately, that the elderly be checked for their well-being, to bring pets indoors, watch for frozen pipes, and limit time spent in the cold.
