Several inches of wet snow fell on Sheboygan County overnight, causing roads slick enough to send vehicles sliding onto shoulders and into ditches.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office said that I-43 had just one clear driving lane in each direction as of 4 this morning, and back roads hadn’t yet been addressed. One of the most notable incidents was several semi’s losing control and going into the ditch on Highway 144 near Silver Creek in the far southern part of the county, but those were being cleared up.

The National Weather Service has extended our Winter Weather Advisory until 9 AM with only an inch or so of light snow on the back of the departing system, but winds and falling temperatures will now be of concern as the freezing conditions create icy spots on still-wet roadways. And with temperatures steadily sliding to an eventual low in the single digits and with below-zero wind chills, the snow that fell and got plowed around will likely stay put for the foreseeable future.
