Wanda Louise Sass, 87, of Elkhart Lake, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Woodland Village at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center.
Wanda was born in Canadian, Oklahoma, on December 12, 1937, daughter of Fred and Dessie (Haynes) Weeks. She graduated from Canadian High School and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1959 from Hillcrest Medical Center Nursing School in Tulsa, OK. She met the love of her life, Carl Sass, while he was attending school in Tulsa, and they were united in marriage on January 23, 1960, in McAlester, OK.
As a dedicated Registered Nurse, Wanda worked at Doctors Hospital and Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK; Mt. Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis, MN; St. Nicholas Hospital and Sheboygan Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan; and The Sheboygan Clinic. At home, Wanda loved to read and found her greatest joy in cooking for her family and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her German potato salad was always requested at gatherings, along with the many delicious baked goods she lovingly prepared.
Wanda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake and was a previous, long-time member of the Ladies Guild at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. She enjoyed having breakfasts with her fellow retired Nurses, playing Mah Jong, the Red Hat Society, and the many trips taken with the Bike Group.
She is survived by her husband, Carl; her four children, Kirk Sass, Sr. of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Jill (Scott) Savrsnik of Fond du Lac, Brett (Jeris) Sass of Plymouth, and Lindy (Ron) Reimer of New Auburn. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Kirk Sass, Jr, Jakob Sass, Sierra (Hayden) Walker, Joshua (Ofelia) Savrsnik, Adam Savrsnik, Caitlyn (Cole) Lewis, Alyson (Joshua) Schwann, Erynn (Kevin) Rotherham, Emily (Jake) Jurss, Emma Reimer, Katie Reimer and Joseph Reimer. 17 great-grandchildren; her brother, Carl Weeks of Shawnee, OK. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Maurita Coffee; her in-laws, Effie Weeks, Yuvonda Weeks, Jerome and Dian Fuhrmann.
A private family memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Elkhart Lake with Pastor Peter Peitsch officiating. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held next summer.
