As the long-anticipated Thanksgiving Weekend storm materializes and changes somewhat on its path through the nation’s midsection, forecasters have made adjustments to final expectations. What had been a general forecast of 8-12” in Sheboygan County is now 9-15” on the extremes (but generally a bit less) with the deepest accumulations likely isolated to areas along the north county line and near the Kettle Moraine. A Winter Storm Warning covers the majority of Wisconsin south of a line from Oconto to Pepin Counties until 6 AM Sunday.

Forecasters emphasized not to become complacent with small initial accumulations, noting that the arrival of the heaviest snow here won’t be until mid afternoon. After that, snowfall rates of between one-half and one-inch per hour will prevail until later nighttime hours.
Although snow should abate in large part during the early morning hours Sunday, blowing and drifting snow will extend travel troubles, especially here in eastern Wisconsin, and an advisory could be issued for those conditions.
Beginning Sunday night, falling temperatures and brisk winds will result in wind chill values in the single digits below zero on Monday morning, with a repeat expected Monday night.
