A grass fire lit up the sky near Greenbush over the weekend. The Greenbush Fire Department posted on its social media page that they were dispatched to take care of a grass fire that broke out on Saturday night near that village.
It took additional units from the Mount Calvary Fire Department, St. Cloud Fire and Rescue, Glenbeulah Fire Department and EMS Plymouth Fire and Rescue to eventually bring that blaze under control.
Conditions have been quite dry for several weeks, resulting in a high fire danger as reported by the Wisconsin DNR – a condition that covers much of Wisconsin except for many northern counties. Although not specifically mentioned as a cause for the blaze, the Greenbush Fire Department added a cautionary note against burning and dumping ashes from fireplaces or furnaces outdoors.
