MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Coronavirus activity across Wisconsin has continued to increase over the past two weeks, according to the state’s weekly update.
Twenty-seven counties, including seven in our area, have seen increased activity. The local counties are Brown, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Outagamie and Winnebago.
Waupaca County is the only county in the state to have seen a decrease in activity over the past two weeks.
All counties in Northeast Wisconsin are listed as having high burden, or number of cases per 100,000 residents, and high activity, which takes into account the burden and the trajectory.
Meanwhile, the state added another 1,408 confirmed cases on Wednesday, pushing the seven-day average to 1,339. There were 12,196 total tests completed, for a positivity rate of 11.5%. That was below the seven-day average of 14.1%.
The state reported eight new deaths, above the seven-day average of six.
Since the pandemic began, Wisconsin has reported 92,712 confirmed coronavirus cases, nearly 1.3 million negative tests and 1,228 deaths. The Department of Health Services considers 80,627 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
