MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network-WSAU) Dane County Executive Joe Parisi continues to ask that UW Madison leaders “strongly consider” closing residence halls and allowing students to return home as COVID-19 cases spike on campus and beyond.
And Parisi, speaking on WISN’s Up Front program, also wants to know: “What their plan is. At what point of how many positive cases or certain percentage will you do which action. Interim [UW System] President [Tommy)] Thompson has stated that he has a number in his mind, but he hasn’t shared that with us.”
Parisi called the two-week pause announced last week a “good first step,” but wants to see UW do more, including, increased testing and tracing capacity, more quarantine space for students living off-campus, as well as sending students home.
UW-Madison had ordered students to stay in dorms for two weeks and moved all classes on-line. Late last week students were allowed to leave their rooms to go to-and-from dining halls.
