There’s apparently misinformation circulating about the financing of the City of Sheboygan’s project to construct new Fire Station facilities, along with claims of a lack of information available to city residents. On Thursday, the City sent out a release to clear up the issues.
The project in question was in response to the identification of the infrastructure needs for Station 3 several years ago, and plans were included for engineering design services and land acquisition in the 2023 Capital Improvements Plan. The City awarded the design contract to Wendel/Five Bugels in 2024 along with a request to also examine needs at Fire Station 2, which was already in the 2025 Budget for renovation.
The release on Thursday detailed the numbers, which it said can also be found in the City’s 2025 Capital Plan (pages 34 and 47); full document available here.
Many steps remain going forward, ultimately involving a minimum of 12 public reviews and 12 public votes.
The City said that anyone is welcome to search their Agendas and Minutes for other details at the City’s website.
