The Sheboygan Area is seeing declining unemployment rates according to data released by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
July data shows the Sheboygan Metropolitan Area experienced unemployment of 2.8% in July. That compares with 2.9% in June and 3% this past May. The rate in July of 2024 was 2.8%. Also within the Metro statistics, the Sheboygan area had an unadjusted workforce of 64,500 in July, down 200 from June but up 500 from July of ‘24. Once seasonal adjustments are applied, a workforce of 63,700 was a gain of 100 over the month, and 1,200 over the year.
The City of Sheboygan itself shared the 10th-lowest unemployment rate among the state’s 35 largest cities with five others at 3.0%, down from 3.1% in June, but up one-tenth from last July.
Sheboygan County experienced a 3.0 % unemployment rate in July, identical to June and down one-tenth from last year. Of Wisconsin’s 72 counties, Sheboygan shared the 26th lowest rate with six others.
