The National Weather Service says that those of us in east-central Wisconsin can expect classic “Dog Days of Summer” weather through the upcoming weekend, including the chance of storms punctuating events such as the P1 Powerboat Races offshore of Sheboygan on Saturday and Sunday.

NWS Graphic
Rain chances here exceed 50 percent only between midnight and 6AM on Sunday, though, and with heat index readings in the upper 80s to mid 90s during the day, a shower might be welcome by some. However some storms – especially between midnight and 6 AM Friday – could contain frequent lightning strikes, gusty winds and heavy rain. That being said, widespread rain isn’t expected and many locations will likely stay dry both Friday and Saturday.

NWS Graphic
While Canadian wildfire smoke has largely abated, ozone has increased to a level that’s unhealthy for sensitive persons. Accordingly, an Air Quality Advisory for Sheboygan and most counties along the lakeshore from Door to the Illinois state line has been issued until 11 PM tonight.
