A Lakeshore College student has been elected President of Wisconsin Student Government, a group of Wisconsin Technical College students which advocates for the system with local state legislators. Kendra Klein, who will graduate from the college’s legal studies/paralegal program in May of next year, is the first Lakeshore student to be elected to the position. That office had traditionally been filled by students representing larger urban colleges within the Wisconsin Technical College System. Klein, who began her term in April, had previously served in a governor role representing Lakeshore.
As WSG President, Klein said that she hoped to strengthen the communications and relationships among the 16 colleges’ governors and lieutenant governors in order to arrive at a similar understanding and identify priorities to be presented as a collective, student-driven organization to local legislators across the state.
Lakeshore College President Dr. Paul Carlsen congratulated Klein on her election, saying that “We are proud of her achievement and look forward to the work she is able to accomplish with the Wisconsin Student Government.”
Klein also continues to serve as president of Lakeshore’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the Paralegal Student Association, roles she assumed beginning in the fall of ‘24.
