Do you have ideas on how properties administered by the Wisconsin DNR are managed, and what public use policies are applied to them? You can now give your ideas to the DNR as they develop a master plan for the Central Lake Michigan Coastal Region. That region includes portions of 13 counties including Sheboygan. DNR-managed properties in and near Sheboygan County include the Fischer Creek Recreation Area near Cleveland, the John Michael Kohler and Terry Andrae State Parks, Bahr Creek Habitat Preservation Area near Cedar Grove, and Harrington Beach State Park near Belgium.
While the State Parks already have management plans under rules known as NR-44, Fischer Creek and Bahr Creek do not. At this stage in the planning process,, the DNR is inviting the public to share their thoughts on the future use and management of all DNR properties in the region, and to identify topics of concern. Information gathered at this stage will help the DNR develop an organized plan to address those public concerns.
To give your input the Department has an online form to gather opinions on such topics as trails for bicycles, hiking, skiing, motorized vehicles and equestrians, boat access, camping and picnicking. You can access that form and learn about the properties through this link.
