Lakeshore College, formerly LTC, has been granted an award of $1.36 million for providing TRIO support services to its students. The term TRIO encompasses three programs; Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services, which aim to help students overcome barriers like low income, being first-generation college students, or having disabilities. Lakeshore College will apply the funds in order to improve college retention and graduation rates among low-income students, first-generation students, and students with disabilities. The award will be given in installments of $272,364 annually over the next five years.
2025 marks the 15th year of TRIO services on Lakeshore’s campus, having helped over 1,000 students stay in college, earn degrees, and build meaningful careers.
Lakeshore College said that such comprehensive support makes it significantly more likely that students will complete their degree or successfully transfer to a four-year university, with the lowest possible debt.
