DETROIT, MI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers lit the Tigers up for 21 hits while Corbin Burnes allowed just one hit in seven innings as they dominated 19-0 in Detroit on Wednesday afternoon.
Milwaukee hit five home runs, including two from Jedd Gyorko, and eight doubles, setting a franchise record with 13 extra-base hits. Jacob Nottingham, Ryan Braun and Tyrone Taylor also homered. The Brewers snapped their three game skid to improve to 19-22, four-and-a-half games behind the Cubs for first in the NL Central.
Matthew Boyd was rocked for seven runs in three frames as he fell to 1-6. Willi Castro had the only two hits for the Tigers, who have lost six-of-eight.
The Brewers have Thursday off before welcoming the Chicago Cubs to Miller Park for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night.
