(WHBL) – Some say fall begins on September 1st, others say it’s on the equinox. But in Wisconsin, nothing relates more to “autumn” than the deer hunt and for bow and crossbow hunters, that begins this coming Saturday, September 12th.
Though not as well known as the gun deer season, the annual harvest officially begins this weekend, and all the usual rules apply. No major rules changes were made for 2020, but one change mentioned by the DNR did stand out: with only a few in-person registration stations remaining, nearly all deer registrations will be completed by phone or on the internet, and that has to be done by 5 PM the day after harvest.
In Sheboygan County, the Archery and Crossbow Seasons run from this Saturday through January 31st. The main event – the Gun Deer Season will run November 21st through the 29th. Not all counties are under the same rules and seasons, so check dnr.wi.gov first to be sure of the rules where you plan to hunt.
